Why aren’t you in more shops? whowhatwhenwherehow..etc.
Within these past couple years, and more recently than before, we’ve always been asked ” Are you in any stores? how come you dont try for this shop or this shop or that shop etc etc ? you guys should try getting into stores, yea? “. Well here’s a good portion of the answer…
From past experience and experiences of other brands, getting into a reputable shop isn’t easy. Even if you do land in a ‘reputable’ shop, theres a high risk of them not doing their side of the business and end up getting into a very stressful and messy situation, which sounds pretty common these days. With that said, we also were very picky with what shop we should try getting our products into. Now we aren’t thinking of ourselves as “GREATER THAN” at all. We didn’t want to push into just any possible dope shop we’ve talked to, heard, seen, and/or read about. We’ve had offers and oppurtunities before, also of course rejections, but we kind of have a different approach/vision with where we are going with SUHREAL. Obviously, one of them being very selective with where we try to distribute our products. One of the major factors that come into play when considering working with another company is, like the SUHREAL team, to be close, gain a good understanding of each others purpose, and of course respect. Everyone in our team has just that and prefer to keep that positive and homie vibe with others as well. We aren’t in any rush nor is there a race going on here with anyone else but ourselves. This may seem far fetch, but competition is only a competition if you see it that way. Although there is a competitive motive behind our push and hustle though. Getting off track and really want to end this rant already, POINT IS…Right now, and for the past couple years, we dont want to work with just anybody and anyone. We want to have trust and a category of GOOD PEOPLES we work with. We want to build a strong foundation in our circle by building strong and close relations with other companies that have similar vibes, focus, drive, purpose, and visions for now. May change within the next couple/few years, but when that does change, its only because the close connections with people we are meeting in these early years of SUHREAL will be enough to keep us standing regardless of the future dirty players we will run into that could possibly hurt us as a brand. To be straight up, as an up-and-coming, we can’t afford too many screw overs, literally.
With all that said and that question answered…
We are proud to announce our new carrier, BlackFlag Shoppe in Clifton, New Jersey! Will write a post on them pretty soon here in the next coming blog posts, but for now, peep this clip, follow them on twitter @BlackFlagShoppe, and checkem out!

Happy Mothers Day!
Quick History
The pictures im going to be showing you are some embarrassing images, but its things you can never forget because this is where I rooted from!
Seeing a Facebook post from one of our fams, Vinnee, she reminded me how long SuhReal has really been around. Around 8 YEARS IN THE MAKING!!! It did start out with apparel, but not the apparel we are doing now. Started out with airbrushing clothes for homies and my homies HOMIES homie to get that pair of jordans coming out. I remember being the only high schooler working at a urban ‘hiphop’ retail shop selling Enyce, Akademiks, Miskeen, etc competing against older heads in other shops around northern VA. Was that kid airbrushing in the back of the store putting in some paint work on customers shirts, bandanas, hats, and jeans throughout 2003-2005 ish.
Before SuhReal was SD CUSTOMS. SD standing for Special Delivery ran by Christian(Duds), Angel Rodriguez, and myself. Besides working at the retail shop and observing how they run things, this was the first taste of handling a business I guess. I think after a few months it failed due to the lack of knowledge and structure within SD haha.
After that failed, just kept doing custom orders through the retail shop until they closed down and moved. Towards the end of the airbrushing era, I think thats when I decided on calling my set of works SuhReal and subconciously started branding that from there. Thats when I moved from airbrushing apparel to focusing on sneaker art.
After a while of just doing straight sneaker art, I met Jose & Vinnee and caught up with an old friend ,Gwiz, who ran this skateboard company I was sponsored by back in 8th grade hah. They were the group that really boosted the whole SuhReal thing to make it legit and commit to it! Eventually got some sneaker works displayed at some of GeorgeTown’s mom&pops sneaker stores and quite a good buzz with the whole sneaker thing. This happened around 2004-2007.
2007, Moved out to the bay area with a goal to soak up as much as I can from this beautiful place. There was definitely more art going on around here than the DC area. Eventually got into the urban/street wear business and started SUHREAL as a clothing company, but at the time it was more of an experimental project before really getting serious with it. At the same time started networking with some very good peoples I still network with now. This was what SUHREAL used to look like a few years ago…2007-2009.
2009-present (2011) we have been very iffy and selective with getting into retail shops. As we all know, the economy is down and people will do some shady business to get theirs. One, it was hard to really put trust into shops, so it was kind of a scare based on experiences and experiences I hear from other brands. Its tough and you really gotta look for a shop thats real with you. Within these 3 years, we’ve came in contact with some really good folks who stays true to their customers and partners. There has been opportunities before and have done trials, but never turned out the way we had planned or just wasn’t interested. With a handful of shops we’ve been in contact and came in trust with, proud to say we are ready to push on to the next level.
Let people know that this brand isn’t a brand that was created within a year, nor is this brand some idea that manifested with the intentions of getting rich and fooling you all into thinking this is some quality shit. This is a brand that, like you and every living organism out there, started out as a baby, grew up to a teen, and is slowly maturing. SuhReal isn’t only created by the team/fam members within the company. You all, the supporters, is also continuously helping&nurturing this brand to grow & expand. For those who are reppin’ us, your also reppin’ the idea of thinking outside the box, understanding our different approaches to concepts the majority can understand, and spreading the message to puruse what you want to do, go beyond the norm, and to live the life of being Wide Awake&Still Dreaming! Point blank, this A Deep Thinkers Brand and this isn’t going to be the first time your going to hear/see/read this.

Watsky… George Watsky.
For the GallivantersSS2011 drop, we had the honor to have George Watsky to feature as the model for our look book. Perfect timing as his look, personality, and overall vibe as a person fits the mood of this seasons drop. The best reason for being thankful for the chance to collaborate, is that he definitely represents us, SuhReal, perfectly. He is living the life of being Wide Awake&Still Dreaming, straight up a SuhRealest. Doing what he loves and continuing to do so, only expanding and perfecting his craft(s). Of course, we encourage you all to do the same! Follow what feels right, pursue it knowing that nothing can stop you, and like Watsky himself, eventually start living the life of being Wide Awake&Still Dreaming! Now if, for some reason, you’ve never heard or seen this guy before here are some youtube clips of his dopeness! MAD TALENT and definitely sick with it.
